Slippery When Wet brings together five artists from across Australia whose practices engage with expanded photographic modes - Danica Chappell, Yvette Hamilton, Elena Papanikolakis, Emily Galicek and Tom Blake. These artists have each gained significant acclaim for their grappling with the politics and poetics of making images today. 'Slippery When Wet' considers the nature of photography and the ease by which it can be reconfigured and replicated by alternative means. Its title riffs upon the complexities that beset the medium in its 'wet' or unconventional forms. Featured in the exhibition is a curated selection of recent and never-before-seen work by each contributing artist - including unique camera-less photographs, mixed-media collage and a suite of paintings.
