Tapestry brings together the works of artists who consider 'interweaving' in their practices. Featuring Elena Papanikolakis, Jacob Potter, Shanti Shea An, Zara June Williams, Yusi Zang, Joel Arthur and Christopher Burton. The exhibition took place from 3-20 July 2025 at Tiles, Sydney/Eora.
These works continue my interest in combining and exploring fragments of found material alongside painting and drawing. In this series, found material consisting of cut-outs from second-hand books act as prompts, windows, or anchors that painting and drawing responds to and interacts. Here, cut-out images removed from their original context explore photography’s relationship to truth; while painting and drawing is used to echo, override or expand upon photographic imagery, hinting at illusions of form and space, and shifting between abstraction and figuration.
